Cookies and Cream Paleo Smoothie

It’s the holiday season and I’ve been craving my mom’s snowball and poop cookies. In an effort to satisfy my sweet tooth I’ve been trying out a few different Paleo desserts and OMG this Cookies and Cream Paleo Smoothie hit the spot.

I texted my mom the other day and asked if she’d be making cookies this year. The poop and snowball cookies come around every year and basically I told her she had to make them because I was totally jonesin’ for them. Have I mentioned how bad sugar is. :p It’s like crack, an addiction, hard to get away from, and you can clearly see I’ve been having way too many sweets because these cookies are all I’ve been able to think about.

Soooo let’s talk more about the poop cookies. We call them poop cookies because that’s exactly what they look like and no they’re not Paleo. The poop cookies are those non-bake drop cookies and they have oats, semi-sweet chocolate and peanut butter among the small list of ingredients. But OMG I can down a couple dozen of them in one sitting, I love them so much!

The snowball cookies are really called Walnut Dreams and I know they’re commonly referred to as Mexican Wedding Cookies but I’ve never tasted any recipe just like the one that’s been passed down from my grandma to my mom to me. Our version of the snowball cookies only has a few ingredients: walnuts (duh! they’re walnut dreams), butter, sugar, vanilla and flour. Oh! and they go straight out of the oven and are immediately rolled in powdered sugar. Amazing, I tell you! A few years ago I tried making a Paleo version of the cookie and they weren’t bad but they were no Walnut Dreams. So, let me tell you, I can’t wait for this years cookie-pocalype! (I’ve since perfected my Paleo Walnut Dreams, aka Mexican Wedding Cookies, and you can find that recipe in Los Paleo!)

In an effort to curb my sweet tooth I tried out this Almond Fudge Brownie recipe from Bill & Hayley. I used a smaller pyrex dish to make thicker brownies and I served them with a scoop of ice cream. I fell asleep later that night on the couch and forgot to put the brownies away so when I woke up the next morning and went to the kitchen they were CALLING for me to do something with them. Of course I wanted to use them so I put a square in the blender and made this little paleo smoothie breakfast treat.
