We’ve been making this simple smoothie for many years and now you can too.

When we started focussing on our diet, before we went Paleo, we used to make a lot of smoothies. Now, not so much, unless we’re splurging on a blended green tea latte from our favorite local coffee shop.

Banana Paleo Smoothie

Because most smoothies are typically loaded with more fruit than we would normally consume whole, we don’t tend to drink them often. That’s just a lot more sugar than I care to slurp in one sitting.

However when we go for long bike rides, or come back from the park after playing several hours of football or with our Aerobie, that’s the time when I head to the blender and make this smoothie.

Beautiful weather for football practice! 🌞🏈💪🏼 Time for a post-game smoothie. 🍌 #Paleo #primal #glutenfree #grainfree #sugarfree #soyfree #dairyfree #vegetarian #vegan #raw #smoothie #football #PaleoPorn

Keep It Simple

Some people might not consider this a recipe because it’s so stinkin’ simple! But guidance and recommendations are sometimes necessary, no matter how simple.

I don’t use many ingredients for this smoothie and I typically always have these items on hand.

Bonus, it’s quite the thirst quencher!

With a healthy dose of fat from the coconut milk, this smoothie is sweetened by the banana and you can make it as thick as you’d like, depending on the amount of ice you add.

Of course you can use this smoothie recipe as a base and add whatever ingredients you’d like but this simple Paleo smoothie is what Jeff & I crave after a stressful workout. If you are inclined to make changes to this recipe, I’d say hold off until you try it as is first. Simple is sometimes best. :)

Our Favorite Paleo Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 3 bananas
  • 1 (13.5 oz) can coconut milk
  • 1-2 cups ice
  • 1 tablespoons collagen peptides (optional)

Directions

  1. Add peeled bananas, the entire can of coconut milk and a heaping hand full of ice to a blender. Use the chop setting to break up the ice, then process until smooth.
  2. Taste the smoothie with a spoon to see if more ice is necessary. It will be necessary if it is not cold enough for you or if you'd like your smoothie a bit thicker.
  3. If you have it, add collagen peptides for a little extra boost of protein and blend to combine well.
  4. Divide the smoothie between two glasses and serve. We enjoy this drink after really long bike rides or on a hot summer day after playing at the park.
  5. Enjoy! :)
