The Double Entendre
Za’atar can refer to a couple different things, both of which are Paleo-friendly. In the Middle East, za’atar can refer to a family of herbs that include oregano, basil thyme, thyme, and savory, all of which are Paleo. It can also refer to dried herbs mixed with sesame seeds, salt, and other spices, which can also be considered Paleo-friendly.
The Benefits of Herbs and Spices
Not only is there nothing wrong with za’atar, but consumption of herbs and spices has actually been shown to have a number of health benefits, including keeping inflammation and blood pressure low.
