Not only is white tea Paleo, it has some proven health benefits. Studies have shown that people who drink tea on a regular basis are less likely to suffer from chronic illnesses later in life. This is probably due to the antioxidants contained in the tea. Those little guys help fight off disease by keeping inflammation low and protecting fats from oxidation.
Better Than Green Tea
Most people have heard the health benefits of green tea touted again and again. Green tea is higher in antioxidants than black tea, but white tea has even more antioxidants than green tea and less caffeine. There’s nothing wrong with caffeine, but if you’re sensitive, you might be better off with a cup of white tea at the end of the day than black tea.
Proper Brewing Makes All The Difference
Mark Sisson even labeled tea a smart fuel. It’s a pretty comprehensive post, but the one thing he got wrong was the instruction to brew tea with boiling water for three-to-five minutes. That’s true of black tea, but other teas (like white tea) are more delicate and you need to be careful not to burn them. They should be brewed with water just under boiling (185 degrees Farenheit) for only two minutes.
