Is Rabbit Paleo?

Paleo is a meat-friendly diet and we don’t discriminate when it comes to the kinds of meat we consume. Whether it’s organs, or animals we wouldn’t normally think to eat, there’s rarely a nutritional reason not to eat animals, and that includes rabbits.

The Fat Profile

Rabbits may be a little harder to find, but you can always raise your own. If you do decide to include rabbits in your diet, you can rest easy knowing that you’re getting a healthy helping of fat and protein. The fat is mostly saturated fat, followed closely by monounsaturated, and then polyunsaturated fats (PUFA).

Omega-6 vs. Omega-3

The PUFAs are mostly omega-6 (which are inflammatory) but the ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fats is much better than what you tend to find in other meats. It’s still less than desirable though, so just be sure you’re getting plenty of omega-3 fats elsewhere in your diet.
